    Friday, 9 August 2019 ~ Miss Belly Dance South Africa Competition

    Celebrating the beauty and variety of this spectacular dance form, the Miss Belly Dance South Africa competition brings dancers from around the country together to uplift and grow diversity within the dance community. Goddess Divine Productions is thrilled to bring you this prestigious competition for professional and amateur dancers, in the midst of the Goddess Divine Festival. From Egyptian Oriental Belly Dance to Fusion Belly Dance, from solos to groups, dancers young and more mature will enthrall you and delight in your support.

    COMPETITION DETAILS:

    AGE GROUPS:
    • Senior: 45 years and over

    • Adult: 18 years and over (from 45 years old - you have the choice to enter the Senior category OR the Adult category)

    • Teen: 13 to 17 years

    • Junior: 5 to 12 years


    ** Please note: Goddess Divine Productions has the right to combine age groups should we not have enough contestants. Example: if we do not have enough “Senior” contestants, we will combine that age group with the “Adult” age group and they will compete together. The age group performance requirements and fee will be applicable.


    TITLE CATEGORIES:

    SENIOR MISS BELLY DANCE SOUTH AFRICA (Adult: 45 years and over)

    2:00 to 3:00 minute Choreographed Solo which must include:

    • A section featuring your chosen style of belly dance (Modern Belly Dance OR Folkloric Belly Dance OR Fusion Belly Dance)

    • A props section featuring one prop of your choice (no fire or candles allowed – you can use LED candles)

    • A drum solo section

    ADULT MISS BELLY DANCE SOUTH AFRICA (Adult: 18 years to 45 years)

    4:00 to 5:00 minute Choreographed Solo which must include:

    • A section featuring your chosen style of belly dance (Modern Belly Dance OR Folkloric Belly Dance OR Fusion Belly Dance)

    • A props section featuring one of the following props: veil, fan veils, wings, cane, or sword

    • A finger cymbals section

    • A drum solo section

    • Contestants will be required to do a 1 to 2 minutes improvisational performance straight after their choreography performance

    TEEN MISS BELLY DANCE SOUTH AFRICA (Teen: 13 to 17 years)

    2:00 to 3.00 minute Choreographed Solo which must include:

    • A section featuring your chosen style of belly dance (Modern Belly Dance OR Fusion Belly Dance)

    • A props section featuring one of the following props: veil, fan veils or wings

    • A drum solo section

    JUNIOR MISS BELLY DANCE SOUTH AFRICA (Junior: 5 to 12 years)

    1:30 to 2:30 minute Choreographed Solo which must include:

    • A section featuring your chosen style of belly dance (Modern Belly Dance only)

    • A short drum solo section • NO props to be used

    NON-TITLE CATEGORIES:

    • Seniors & Adults & Teens - Music piece to be 2:00 mins – 2:30 mins maximum

    • Juniors - Music piece to be 1:30 mins – 2:00 mins maximum

    MAGNIFICENT MODERN BELLY DANCE

    • Egyptian, Turkish, Lebanese, Western Cabaret, Egyptian Fusion, Turkish Fusion, Lebanese Fusion etc. (Not fused with other dance styles)

    DIVINE DRUM SOLO

    • Egyptian, Turkish, Lebanese, Western Cabaret, Egyptian Fusion, Turkish Fusion, Lebanese Fusion etc.

    SENSATIONAL PROPS

    • Any style of Belly Dance (including fusion) performed with any Traditional and Non-Traditional Prop. This category is all about the use of the prop. (No Fire or Candles Allowed – you can use LED candles)

    FASCINATING FUSION

    • Tribal Fusion, ATS®, ITS, Belly Dance Fusion (fused with other dance styles /influences)

    FABULOUS FOLKLORE

    • Ethnic and Folkloric dances from the Middle East such as Baladi, Shaabi, Saidi, Zaar, Melaya Leff, Ghawazee, Tanoura, Haggala, Fellahi, Khaleegy, Greek Tsiftetelli, Bandari, Iraqi Dance / Kawleeya, Debke, Turkish Rom etc

    **Please note: Goddess Divine Productions has the right to combine non-title categories should we not have enough contestants. Example: If we do not have enough “Folklore” contestants, they will compete in the same category as the “Modern Belly Dance” contestants. The judges will be notified and scoring criteria adjusted accordingly.

    Goddess Divine is a collaboration between two South African belly dance artists with a dream to unite the Southern African belly dance community and promote it's growth. Angela Sanders (owner of Belly Dance Goddess) and Natalie Clark (owner of Dancing Divinity) have been organising events for the belly dance community since 2006 and came together in 2011 to organise and host their first joint-event, the Goddess Divine Festival.

    In 2019, Goddess Divine will be organising the 7th annual Goddess Divine Festival and this year the festival will be organised solely by Natalie Clark.

    About Angela Sanders

    Angela is an adoring and highly skilled performer who never ceases to leave her audience breathless. Her predominately Egyptian style is feminine and graceful yet sassy and playful – a very emotional performer who is awe inspiring to watch as she interprets the music via her soul, through her body – moving you through her dancing. Angela’s passion for the Middle Eastern dance culture is what inspires her to keep moving forward, learning and being the best at what she can be motivates her as “a dancer without passion is like the earth without a sun or moon”. Angela is the founder of Belly Dance Goddess dance company and proudly heads up the Belly Dance Goddess professional dance troupe.

    Natalie is a passionate and captivating performer who always leaves a lasting impression on her audiences. She has a powerfully engaging stage presence and playful personality. Mysterious and alluring, she will entice you to sway your hips and move your bodies! Natalie has a love for all belly dance styles and loves to perform and teach Egyptian Style, American Cabaret Style and Fusion Styles of bellydance. Natalie is the founder of Dancing Divinity Dance Company and Belly dancing and dance in general is her passion, it ignites the fire within in her, allows her to be creative, let go of the daily stresses of life and be a sensual, soulful and powerful goddess!
